Privacy policy

We keep what you send us: your name, how to reach you, your address, and your radon result if you share it. We also keep the records of any job we do for you. We use it to answer you, give you a price and book your job.

We never share or sell your contact details. The only others who see them are the few listed below who help us do the work, and anyone the law requires or allows us to share it with.

If you want to see, fix or delete what we have, email us at radon@windsorradon.ca.

Who we are and how to reach us about privacy

This site is run by Windsor Radon, based in Tecumseh, Ontario.

The person who answers for how we handle your information is the owner. You can reach them at radon@windsorradon.ca.

PIPEDA (opens in a new tab), Canada's privacy law for businesses, asks us to name this person.

What we collect when you call, email or fill in the form

Our contact form asks for:

  • your name
  • your phone number or email
  • the best time to call, if you give one
  • your address or town
  • what you need
  • your radon result, if you have one
  • anything else you want to tell us

When you call or email, we keep what you tell us. On a job, we write down the test readings, notes, and photos of the work.

We don't ask for anything we don't need to give you a price or book your job.

How we use your information

We don't put photos of jobs on this site. We only show a reading from a job if the homeowner says OK, and then we name the town only, never the street address.

Who else sees it

A few others may see your information to help us do the work:

  • The companies that run this website, our form and our email. Vercel hosts the site, Resend sends form messages to our inbox, and Purelymail runs our email.
  • The independent lab that analyzes your radon detector.
  • The mail carrier, which sees your name and address if we mail you a test.

We share your information without your OK only where the law requires or allows it, for example to answer a court order, subpoena or warrant.

Some of these companies may store or handle your information outside Canada. If they do, the authorities in that country may be able to get at it under their laws. (source) (opens in a new tab)

How long we keep it

We keep job records for 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to. That's the Canada Revenue Agency's general rule for business records. If you get in touch but never book a job with us, we keep your enquiry for 1 year. (source) (opens in a new tab)

How to see, fix or delete your information

Email us at radon@windsorradon.ca. We'll show you what we have, fix anything that's wrong, or delete what we don't need to keep. Your request goes to the owner.

PIPEDA (opens in a new tab) gives us 30 days to answer. In a few cases it lets us take up to 30 more days, and if we do, we'll tell you why within the first 30 days.

Not happy with our answer? Raise it with us first. If we can't sort it out, you can take it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (opens in a new tab). (source) (opens in a new tab) (source)
